Panasonic and Olympus, two of the leading names in digital cameras, has finally decided to work together and produce a camera which will certainly be a delight for most photographers—the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1. This model paves the way for the interchangeable camera lens, which was tagged as the Micro Four Thirds. The Micro Four Thirds aims to reduce the size of the cameras with an interchangeable lens. This can be done by doing away with the mirror box in the totality of the design. This particular camera is the first one in the series, and we can expect that there is still more to come from Panasonic and Olympus.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 is smaller than most cameras intended for professional use. This camera weighs only 5 grams more than its predecessor, the E-410, which has the record for the most lightweight digital SLR. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 has a 12 megapixel live MOS image sensor and the latest type of Venus Engine HD processor. These two amazing features work together produce a 60 per second live view function, which is not present in some digital SLRs. Furthermore, this model can use lenses from the existing Four Thirds model; however, there should be a special converter before this can be done.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 also has a 3.0 inch LCD which can give anyone the clearest view of the pictures that he has taken. An electronic viewfinder is also included in this wonderful model, which is considered one of the best SLR displays in the market. The camera also has a rechargeable lithium ion battery, so you do not have to worry about taking pictures anytime that you want, as long as the battery is fully charged. If you are a photographer, then the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 may just be the perfect gadget for you.
