Pictures are great ways of storing memories of unforgettable moments and gatherings. And what better way to capture those smiles than to get the perfect camera. If you are looking to purchase your own personal camera for picture taking, you have to take a lot into consideration. First of all, cameras fall into various categories. These gadgets are ultra compact, which are very light in the pocket but the controls and viewfinder are cramped; the compact camera which is the most marketable and portable and easy to use; the creative compact which are more on the features than compact, usually $200 extra expense and are perfect for techno enthusiasts; SLR-like which are bulky but easy to use and have large sensors and can take better pictures in dim light; and the SLR which is large and not compact but can take the best kinds of pictures and are used by professional photographers to take quality shots.

If you are looking for a camera that you want to take with you anywhere you go, then a compact camera is what you need. But if you need a camera for taking great shots on special occasions, then you might consider those cameras that are more on features than on its small size. Not only this, you should also consider the resolution of a camera. 3 megapixels can result to good 8×10” pictures. The higher the resolution, the better it results it can give.
When it comes to quality of cameras, names like Canon, Panasonic and Olympus among others arise. Cameras that are often of the highest technology are manufactured by Canon. Kodak gives simple options and excellent balance. Sony and Panasonic are very much in the league of Canon. Olympus cameras are good and usually offer one-of-kind features like being waterproof. So if you are looking for the right type of camera to purchase, you must consider the camera first according to your needs.

Sanyo Xacti E1

Sanyo Xacti E1 is a 6-megapixel hybrid digital camera-camcorder. Unlike all the previous Xacti models, Sanyo Xacti E1 is not just a water-resistant camera, but a waterproof one. This means that the camera is really made for water. Even the built-in microphone captures underwater sounds. This quality camera is available in the market for a reasonable price tag given its versatility.

Sanyo Xacti E1 is also packaged in a fun and attractive design made for both indoor and outdoor use. It comes in three different colors—blue, yellow and white. It has a large, easy-to-grip handle under which the lithium-ion battery and the SD/SDHC memory slots are housed in a sealed waterproof door. The whole camera weighs 8.3 ounces, a little heavier than its predecessor and most other camcorders but light enough for everyday handling.

The only downside about the Sanyo Xacti E1 is the flip out and adjustable, 2.5-inch LCD panel that turns a little bit washout in extreme daylight. But still, the menus and navigation buttons are easy to use and located intuitively above the handle so that the controls can easily be manipulated by the thumb. The buttons, however, are slightly tough and does not respond as quickly as non-waterproof cameras would do but these flaws can be attributed to the solid state waterproof casing.

Nonetheless, you will get to realize that the Sanyo Xacti E1 is one of the best purchases you ever had once you see for yourself how the camera exceeds your expectations from a fancy waterproof gadget. You probably think that there is a catch about the Sanyo Xacti E1 that greatly involves the performance of the camera but seriously, E1 can deliver both quality still photos and superb video recordings that can be at par with regular digital camera and camcorders.
