Cooking Mama is cooking-themed video games, which are popular with the gamers, who intend to have a virtual cooking experience. However, this game is subjected to strong protests.

The animal support group called PETA (People for the Ethical of Animals) protested the game released by the Majesco Entertainment, called as Cooking Mama: World Kitchen which is recently launched in the United States. The game is accused to have too many meats as ingredients.

PETA apparently believes that the creator of the game does not care to see so many animals being butchered. In support of their protest, PETA creates a game parody of Cooking Mama that shows the animal butchered before being cooked.

PETA also requested that the current version of Cooking Mama, to be updated to use less meat as food, especially to respect those who intend to become a vegetarian.

Majesco rejected all criticism. They argued that the game also use many vegetables as ingredients.

Cooking Mama is casual games that reach successful sales. As quoted from Gamasutra, all versions of the game had been sold 1.6 million copies in the United States since its release in 2006.
